The unprecedented pace of urbanization demands that we adopt new approaches to providing essential services,

and realize the possibilities offered by technology.

The world is modernizing faster than ever, bringing urbanization on an unprecedented scale. Over half of the world’s population now lives in cities. But given that urban environments contribute disproportionately to carbon emissions and climate change, and that our largest cities are now home to tens of millions of people, new types of urban infrastructure are required to support sustainable growth, and maintain the efficiency of cities, key to their productivity.
