The Situation

CISDI Engineering Co., Ltd. is a large,state-owned engineering company and subsidiary of China Metallurgical Group Corporation (MCC). In targeting business development and growth, CISDI understood that it was necessary to build an effective management model for greater consistency, standardization and control of its business. To achieve this, it needed to introduce a set of unified business processes to increase efficiency and create one enterprisewide management platform. And it needed an experienced system integrator with in-depth knowledge of the manufacturing industry.

The Solution

Capgemini designed, built and implemented a comprehensive Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) management system to address the company’s needs. The solution was built on Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) software. Project scope included implementation of the ERP system in the three corporations of CISDI headquarters, Industrial Furnace Company and Shanghai Company. Capgemini’s solution was tailored to cope with the management of project costs, plans and quality, documents and design, procurement, inventories, finance, marketing, and human resources (HR).

The Result

Through close cooperation between the CISDI and Capgemini teams, the project achieved the following objectives:

  • produced a practical, sustainable enterprise BI development blueprint
  • built a unified BI platform to enable the company’s employees to analyze accurate, up-to-date information and
    make informed business decisions
  • enabled extensive insight, and supported multi-level, in-depth analysis for departments to complete their goals in line with the company’s overarching objectives
  • provided intelligent analysis based on Earned Value Analysis (EVA) to minimize project risks.
