tedrive Performs Successful IT Separation

| Caso de éxito

In only eight months build-to-run project time, automotive supplier tedrive worked with Capgemini to build its own IT landscape based on SAP ERP, XI and BW.

“ The goal was to implement a solution that was both stable and scalable to support the future strategic vision of tedrive in a short period of time. With SAP as the platform and Capgemini as our implementation partner, we achieved this goal with significantly lower project costs. ”Satish Kannan, Chief Information Officer, tedrive Group

The Situation

tedrive B.V., based in Heerlen, Netherlands, develops and produces driveshafts, steering systems and differentials for the global automotive industry. tedrive was established in 2007. With 2,600 employees and 500 million in annual sales, tedrive is producing in Germany, Poland and Brazil.

As tedrive was carved out of automotive supplier Visteon Corporation, its IT systems were still provided by Visteon. The business processes were located in more than 110 different systems. Hence, tedrive wanted to become independent from the former IT landscape by separating from the network and introducing SAP ERP and Business Warehouse (BW) to the business. Capgemini was selected to design, implement and run both the network and the IT systems.

The Solution

tedrive requested a flexible and scalable solution to reflect the strategic approach for its future IT landscape. A complete technical and organizational change made it possible to migrate from more than 110 different systems and several hundreds of partner connections to basically one SAP ERP for Automotive system, integrating SAP Business Warehouse, Seeburger EDI-XI subsystem and SupplyOn marketplace for customer and supplier communication. Currently, more than 500 users work with the solution at the two producing plants in DŒren and WŒlfrath, Germany.

The Result

The new harmonized and integrated solution is expected to lead to reduced total effort and higher speed of business. Anticipated opportunities include:

  • Improved partnership and collaboration with business partners
  • Standardized business processes
  • Standardized data structures to exchange information
  • Integrated IT within the organization
  • Integrated IT towards business partners
  • Reduced short-term and long-term costs.
